The central components of the powertrain are manufactured at the Mercedes-Benz foundry in Mettingen. To support series production, modern facilities are being built that meet the growing requirements of the new vehicle models. This increases energy efficiency and occupational safety and ensures integration into the existing facilities without affecting ongoing production at neighbouring plants.

»With a targeted approach and communication tailored to the target audience, we succeeded in optimally combining time, costs, and quality in this complex project environment.«
As part of the modernisation of the foundry in Mettingen, Mercedes-Benz commissioned ahc to manage several projects. One focus was on the acceptance and commissioning of a shredding plant, which returns large casting residues to the material cycle. As this was a pilot project, optimisation requirements were identified during setup and ramp-up. ahc coordinated these with all project participants and implemented them cost-effectively, so that the investment recouped its costs within a short timeframe.
In another project, ahc determined the economic viability of electrifying gas-powered industrial plants. Against the backdrop of the desired decarbonisation of production, the existing plants were analysed taking into account certificate trading, and the results were prepared as a reliable basis for decision-making. For this purpose, a sophisticated measurement infrastructure was set up, the evaluations of which also served as a basis for exchange with technology and market innovators.
In addition, ahc took on the project management for the retrofitting of a die-casting plant. From planning and dismantling the existing plant through to commissioning the new plant, the focus was on coordinating numerous suppliers and interfaces to ensure smooth operation and resolve any issues early on before they could affect downstream trades.
